About Us
Jon Cluett heads up Trossachs Mountain Guides. Jon moved to Scotland in 1998 with the intention of studying Environmental Sciences at University and learning how to climb ice! Both of these goals have been achieved with many adventures throughout Scotland and further afield, but Jon has spent most of this time living in and around the National Park where he continues to live and raise his family.
Jon is highly qualified and is a holder of the Mountaineering Instructor Award (MIA) and the Winter Mountain Leader (WML). He is a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors(http://www.ami.org.uk/membership, number 1270), is fully insured and always operates with a valid First Aid certificate. Jon has a first degree in Environmental Science (BSc) and has studied further with a PhD in Environmental Science related research involving soil, archaeology and cultural heritage management (if you’re out with him for a full day ask him about it!). He has over 10 years of experience in many parts of the Outdoor Industry with recent work including various advising, consultancy and staff training work for large businesses, developing and delivering various Outdoor Education programmes for a range of clients including Universities, delivering training for National Governing Body Awards and regularly delivering his other key products.
From his base in the Trossachs Jon is passionate about climbing and mountaineering in Scotland. This passion is equally matched by his desire to teach, train and equip people with the necessary skills, enabling them to have their own Scottish mountaineering experiences and adventures!
